National Traffic Information Service (NTIS) collects traffic data from various sensors and makes them available in isolation or as “fused” services. The processed data is averaged across all lanes of the carriageway and reported on a per network link basis every minute. This is known as the Processed Traffic Data (PTD).
Sensor-only data is that which has been collected from sensors on the road including data from MIDAS Gold sites every minute and from TMU and ANPR equipment every 5 minutes. Data such as speed, flows, occupancy, headway and travel times is processed and reported on a per network link basis.
