One of the most unique insights to be drawn about company performance is the overall sentiment of the employees. Accessing employee sentiment can typically be an arduous task; however, thanks to the award winning sentiment analysis conducted by our partner, Credit Pricing Corporation (CPC), we provide sentiment analytics on a broad range of Japanese corporations that support both quantitative and fundamental investment workflows. Three types of sentiment scores are available, encompassing organizational culture, work-life balance, and motivation.

All scores are based on proprietary natural language processing of over fourteen million employee reviews of their experiences working for Japanese corporations. These reviews are entered on OpenWork, a Japanese employment site with over 4 million registered users and 3 million unique visitors per month. OpenWork’s own posting requirements and validation processes, which include minimum post length and visual screening of all posts, ensure a clean input to CPC’s analysis.

Quantitative analysis of our employee sentiment scores indicates statistically significant predictive power in forecasting company returns sales growth, and debt ratios. Used as an input to portfolio construction and risk management, these scores display statistically significant predictive efficacy.
