Posit Team is the definitive data science platform for R and Python, delivering an end-to-end solution by combining three powerful products -
Posit Workbench
,
Posit Connect
, and
Posit Package Manager
. As a Snowflake Native App, your team can manage its entire data science lifecycle without data ever leaving the Snowflake security boundary.
Key Features
1. Accelerate Workflows with Integrated AI Tools
Supercharge productivity with AI assistants that are deeply integrated with your development workflow and the Snowflake ecosystem.
IDE-Integrated Assistance: Get help with code generation, explanation, and debugging directly in the
Positron IDE
with the LLM-powered
Positron Assistant
.
For AI assisted Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), we have introduced
Databot
in Positron
Cortex-Powered Chat for R Studio: For R Studio users,
gander
provides context aware AI chat, powered by Cortex,  that understands your R session, variables, and project structure
Deploy Governed LLM Apps: Build and deploy applications powered by Snowflake Cortex using open-source packages like
querychat
and
chatlas
, with apps automatically inheriting Snowflake's security and governance.
(Note: Cortex support for the Positron Assistant and the upcoming DataBot assistant are planned for a future release)
2. A Complete, Centralized Development Hub
Posit Workbench provides a centralized, managed environment where your data scientists can use their preferred tools while working directly and securely with Snowflake data.
Multiple IDEs: Includes the next-generation Positron IDE alongside RStudio, Jupyter and VS Code environments.
Secure Connectivity: Access Snowflake data seamlessly with
managed OAuth credentials
and
professional drivers
, eliminating credential management headaches.
3. Seamless Workflow from Development to Deployment
One-Click, Secure Deployment (with Posit Connect):
Transition instantly from development to production deployment with Posit Connect. Data scientists can publish their work directly from Workbench with a single click, deploying interactive apps, APIs, and reports. Connect inherits Snowflake governance by giving you the ability to configure applications to run queries using the viewer's own Snowflake credentials, automatically enforcing row-level data security
Governed, Reproducible Environments (with Posit Package Manager):
Manage reproducible R and Python environments with Posit Package Manager's centralized repository management, ensuring consistent package versions across your organization
(Note: Posit Package Manager is expected to land in Public Preview later in the year)
4. Powered by Open-Source Innovation
Built on Posit's commitment to open source, including tools like Orbital for popular modeling frameworks like
scikit-learn
(Python) and
tidymodels
(R), enabling data scientists to leverage the latest innovations while maintaining enterprise security and governance.
